the blend
each spring-fall, the mess hosts around 20 shows, featuring unique musicians at each show. the blend exists to provide an accessible and equitable booking opportunity for musicians of all shapes, sounds and sizes.
where is it?
our stage is an elevated concrete slab at the backend of the mess’ backyard, located in the near north neighborhood of Minneapolis. in the event of bad weather, the show moves indoors at the mess. either way, the job gets done.
what is the blend?
the blend is a concert series hosted by the mess. the mess curates eclectic and sonically blended bills from the musicians who submit which creates opportunities to meet new bands, play with folks you might not have met yet, and meet new fans.
we call it blind billing!
if accepted, bands need only provide information requested in the advance, show up, and put on a fun set.
the mess handles advancing, booking, marketing, etc.
what do i need to bring?
for starters, probably a chair for when your set is over. we’re a musicians resource space - not a chair company! other than that, whatever you need for your set. the mess has a PA system, extra cables, couple mic stands, amps, drums, and a house guitar +bass.
is it paid?
the shows hosted @ the mess will be ticketed and after expenses have been paid (permits, photo/video, supplies, etc.), any additional revenue will be split evenly amongst acts. house expenses typically never surpass $100.
when can i expect to hear back?
we process each submission as quickly as we can. we work hard to allow at least 2 months notice ahead of the shows.
